Find an Orthodontist Near You
If you decide to align your teeth, you have several effective options. The length of your treatment will depend on many factors, including the complexity of your case.
Similar to metal braces, this option uses ceramic brackets adhered to the teeth and threaded through with metal wire. Because ceramic is similar to the color of your teeth, this option is less noticeable than metal braces.
These traditional braces are made of metal brackets adhered to the teeth and threaded through with metal wire. Your orthodontist will adjust the wires periodically to make sure your teeth continue to align correctly. These braces are the most common and usually the most affordable option.
These clear, thin, plastic trays are custom fitted to your teeth. You will require a series of trays throughout the course of your treatment. You can easily remove them to eat and brush your teeth, and they are much less noticeable than metal or ceramic braces.
After aligning your teeth with one of the options above, a retainer can help keep your teeth looking perfect. This combination of metal wires and plastic is form-fitted to your mouth and easily removed for cleaning. Your orthodontist will determine how often you need to wear a retainer.
Like traditional metal braces, lingual braces are also made of metal brackets adhered to the teeth and threaded through with a metal wire. However, instead of being adhered to the outside of teeth, they are placed on the inside, facing the tongue. The result is an effective treatment that isn’t noticeable to anyone except you and your orthodontist.
Still not sure which option is right for you? A certified orthodontist can help you make the right decision.
